Perched at the northwest corner of Africa and the entrance to the Mediterranean, Morocco offers an exotic blend of both regions, an ancient land with a modern side and an incredible blend of landscapes from Atlantic beaches to snowcapped peaks and Sahara sands.

Marrakech is the crown jewel of Moroccan culture, a mesmerizing walled city filled with palaces, mosques and museums set along narrow lanes where vendors hawk Oriental rugs, cashmere scarves, babouche slippers, leather bags, Berber baskets and all sorts of other handmade crafts. The olden cities of Fez and Tangier, as well as seaside Essaouira, offer similar time trips into the North African past.

Desert meets the sea in spectacular fashion at Agadir, Morocco’s chic beach resort. Or you can venture inland, trekking the High Atlas or visiting Berber villages where ancient ways and means persist. Beyond the mountains is the vast Sahara with its camel caravans and palm-shaded oasis resorts.
