Explore Uganda

The Pearl of Africa is glimmering again. Tourism was virtually nonexistent during the internal strive that plagued Uganda in the late 20th century. But after several decades of peace, the national parks are open for business again, Entebbe is now more renowned for its beach clubs on Lake Victoria, and Uganda has returned to its previous stance as one of the best places in Africa for a classic safari.

Queen Elizabeth National Park — with the famous Mountains of the Moon hovering in the background — offers a wide variety of typical plains animals, lakeshores teeming with crocodiles and hippos, and lions who like hanging out in trees.

But Ugandas real claim to fame is primate trekking — foot safaris to view mountain gorillas of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in the cool southern highlands or the chimpanzeesand 12 other primate species that dwell in Kibale Forest National Park
