Itinerary Overview

This is an elegant 8-day 7-night itinerary. Visit Cape Town, a cosmopolitan city, Stellenbosch and Grootbos Private Nature Reserve to explore the outdoors.

Day 1 Arrive Cape Town International Airport (CPT)

At the confluence of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans, sandwiched between the slopes of Table Mountain and the waters of Table Bay, the city of Cape Town sparkles in a class of its own blessed with rich culture, vibrant nightlife, a cosmopolitan atmosphere, extraordinary architecture, breath-taking landscapes and extraordinary natural wonders. Cape Town captivates the hearts of visitors with her bustling harbor, world-class beaches, top-notch vineyards, and its mountainous surroundings brimming with diverse flora and fauna.

Arrive at Cape Town international Airport (CPT). Transfer to Newlands, Cape Town.

Enjoy an afternoon at leisure to settle in or explore the lush garden landscape around you.

Time permitting, cap off a long day with a cable car ride up Table Mountain to take in the magnificent views of the city and two oceans.

Day 2 Cape Town

Enjoy a visit to Robben Island, the UNESCO World Heritage Site, where Nelson Mandela spent years in incarceration, or a walking food tour to introduce some essentials of South African food and drink. Forage for lunch at the V&A Food Market, before setting off on a tour of the city and Bo-Kaap, formerly known as the Malay Quarter, on the slopes of Signal Hill, where your day ends with a cocktail watching the sun set over the Mother City and Table Bay

Day 3 Cape Town

Enjoy a day trip around the Cape Peninsula to Cape Point, taking in Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, picking up a picnic lunch in the fishing village of Kalk Bay before visiting the famous penguins of Boulders Beach. Time permitting, take the breath-takingly beautiful hike from Cape Point to the Cape of Good Hope, before returning to the city via the spectacular Chapman’s Peak drive, which snakes along the coast in the shadow of Table Mountain.

Day 4 Cape Town - Stellenbosch

Stellenbosch is a blend of historical architecture, student life, epicurean delights and oak-lined avenues and is a picturesque university town surrounded by mountains and vineyards. It is also the ideal base from which to explore the renowned local wine route, boasting a high proportion of the country’s leading wine estates.

Transfer to the Waterford Wine Estate, Stellenbosch for a 4×4 safari-style drive through the vineyard.

Visit the magnificent Dylan Lewis Sculpture garden, before transferring to your hotel in the heart of the historic district.

Day 5 Stellenbosch

A walking tour of the town center allows visitors to take in its beautifully preserved Cape Dutch and Victorian architecture, as well as the many enticing art galleries, craft shops, clothing boutiques and gift stores, while foodies may prefer indulging in mouth-watering cuisine and fine wines at one of the chic restaurants or buzzing bistros. Alternatively, a food walking tour explores local wine, and culinary traditions, and an optional home-cooked meal in the Kayamandi suburb.

Day 6 Stellenbosch – Grootbos Private Nature Reserve

The Whale Coast is an area of incredible natural beauty and diversity. This rugged stretch of South African coastline snakes along the Atlantic Ocean, with magnificent fynbos-blanketed mountains rising from the interior. The spectacular scenery is made up of charming seaside villages, farms, rivers, coves and valleys. During the right season, the region’s namesake, whales, can be seen cruising and wallowing in the coastal waters.

You may opt for a scenic drive across the Franschhoek Pass with an optional cellar visit en route, or a drive along the False Bay coast including a visit to the penguin colony at Stony Point.

Transfer to Grootbos Private Nature Reserve.

Day 7 Grootbos Private Nature Reserve

Your day’s activities might include exploring the forest and fynbos on foot or in the landscape on a Flower Safari in an open 4 x 4 vehicle, a walk along the beach to the prehistoric Klipgat cave, a marine big 5 safari by boat, horseback riding, touring the surrounding townships, a showcase of the non-profit Grootbos Foundation projects such as the Green Futures Academy, seasonal whale watching, shark cage diving in Gansbaai, scenic Flights over Walker Bay, spa treatments at the Bloom Salon or planting a tree to support the Future Trees Project.
