Itinerary Overview
Wonders of Nepal Tour is a special tour that includes visiting the villages in the Himalayas along the Annapurna trekking route and staying in Jomsom, the gateway to the forbidden kingdom of Mustang, with views of Mount Nilgiri. In addition, visit Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan National Park, and Dulikhel. This tour covers historical and religious sights, wildlife, soft trekking in the Annapurna range, and local life. Be immersed into the culture for an unforgettable experience.
Namaste and welcome to Nepal!
Arrive in Kathmandu, and after immigration, baggage, and customs, exit the arrival hall. A Geringer Global Travel representative will greet you with a placard bearing your name. You will then be assisted and transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO Heritage Site, located in the heart of the old city of Kathmandu. It is a 17th century complex and is an important site for Buddhist and Hindu rituals.
Enjoy a cycle rickshaw ride through the market square and bazaars of the Thamel area.
After lunch, visit the Swayambhunath Stupa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, also called the Monkey Temple. The stupa has stood as a hallmark of faith and harmony for centuries with Hindu temples and deities incorporated in this Buddhist site. Swayambhunath is an important Buddhist pilgrimage site.
Early morning transfer to the airport to enjoy the Everest Mountain Flight to catch a glimpse of the twenty of the highest peaks to the east of Nepal including Mt. Everest. (Subject to weather conditions.)
Return to the hotel for breakfast.
After breakfast, explore Pashupatinath and Boudhanath. Pashupatinath is one of the most revered Shiva Temples in Nepal. Boudhanath, the 36-meter-high stupa of Boudha, is massive and dominates the skyline in the area. With countless monasteries, it is the center of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal.
After lunch, visit Patan Durbar Square to experience Newari art and architecture. Visit the old royal palace and artistically designed temples. The museum in the palace houses a fine collection of metal crafts, wood carvings, and a precious Malla-era throne.
Visit the Tibetan Bowl and Healing Center, that specializes in sound healing therapy from handmade Tibetan bowls. The vibrations of the bowls are said to cure headaches, back pain, stress, and insomnia.
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and transfer to Kathmandu airport for the flight to Pokhara. Pokhara is the third largest city in Nepal. It is the starting point for most of the treks in the Annapurna area. This city has several beautiful lakes and offers stunning panoramic views of Himalayan peaks.
After lunch, visit the International Mountain Museum to learn about the mountains and the history of mountaineering.
Check into the resort.
After breakfast, visit the Gurkha Museum that honors Nepal’s most storied warriors. Interact with an Ex – Gurkha Army personnel over a cup of tea or coffee.
Visit the Gandharba community, an ancient caste of musicians, who are at risk of extinction as modernization takes over the traditional music and entertainment in rural Nepal.
After lunch, visit the World Peace Stupa, the massive Buddhist stupa, which was constructed by Buddhist monks from the Japanese Nipponzan Myōhōji organization. Besides being an impressive sight in itself, the shrine is a vantage point that offers spectacular views of the Annapurna range and Pokhara city.
Enjoy a boat ride on Phewa Lake. On the way to the hotel, visit the Tibetan Refugee Camp. These refugee camps were built for the thousands of Tibetan refugees that came to settle in Nepal after the Chinese takeover.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Jomson at an altitude of 8,999 feet. Flight time is 20 minutes.
Arrive in Jomsom and drive to Thasang Village (approximately 2 hours). En route, visit the local village school. Thasang Village is located along the Annapurna trekking route, one of the most famous and scenic destinations of Nepal.
Check into Thasang Village Lodge followed by lunch.
Visit Thasang View Point. It is a 30 – minute walk from the lodge. Enjoy the waterfalls as well as the view of the lodge.
After breakfast, proceed for a hike to Titi Lake. It is at an altitude of 2,700 ft. Enjoy the beautiful view of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Tuckche Peak, and Mt. Nilgiri.
This is a full-day scenic hike with a picnic lunch through rhododendron forests, which are in full bloom from April through May.
After breakfast, drive back to Jomsom (approximately 2 hours).
En route, visit Marpha Village. This is a town surrounded by green irrigated orchards.
Lunch is at a local restaurant in Marpha.
Jomsom is a town resting at the feet of Nepal’s jaw-dropping Annapurna Mountain. Arrive at Jomsom and check into the resort.
Rest of the day is at leisure to explore the areas close to the resort.
After breakfast, take a walk to Thini Village. Interact with the locals and try archery with the villagers.
Thini village is situated at an altitude of 2,862m. In the 16th century, three brothers of the Thin royal family ruled the village so the locals named it Thini.
After lunch, walk to Muktinath and visit Muktinath Temple to witness the blessing ceremony at the temple.
Return to Jomsom. Rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy independent activities.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight back to Pokhara.
Transfer to the Pavilions Himalayas Lake View Tented Camp.
In the late afternoon, walk along Phewa Lake for bird watching in Chisapani Forest. Spot some interesting birds and take in the breathtaking views of the Annapurna and Machhapuchhre Mountains.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport to connect for the flight to Bharatpur.
Arrive in Bharatpur and drive to Barahi Jungle Lodge (approximately 45 minutes).
Chitwan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was established in 1973. Historically, Chitwan was a popular hunting ground of the Nepali ruling class. The area in the national park south of the Rapti river is demarcated as a rhinoceros sanctuary. It is home to one-horned rhinos, sloth bears, leopards, and tigers and over 450 species of birds.
Check into the hotel, followed by lunch.
Visit nearby Tharu Village. This ethnic community is indigenous to the southern plains of Nepal and its people are descendants of the kingdoms that existed here when Buddha was born.
Enjoy a session with a naturalist to understand the background data and history of the Royal Chitwan National Park as well as some other interesting topics relating to wildlife.
After breakfast, enjoy a jeep safari with an expert naturalist taking you inside the forest to search for several types of deer (spotted deer, barking deer, and hug deer), monkeys, wild boar, sloth bears, leopards and, if lucky, the Royal Bengal Tiger. The naturist will point out different species of birds.
After lunch, take a jungle walk with a naturalist to see different mammals, bird species, and plants. Afterwards, enjoy a boat safari (subject to weather conditions and water level in the river) on the Rapti River to view aquatic birds, crocodiles, Gharials, and the animals of the river banks.
Early morning, head for another jeep safari with the naturalist to explore Chitwan National Park.
Return to the lodge for breakfast.
Transfer to Bharatpur airport to connect for the afternoon flight for Kathmandu.
Drive to Dhulikhel. En route visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Explore the Royal Palace, the Golden Gate, and the entrance to the Palace of 55 Windows, known as the most significant piece of art in Nepal. Visit the highest temple in the entire Kathmandu Valley, Nyatapola Temple.
Arrive into Dhulikhel and check into the resort. Dhulikhel is located 32kms east of Kathmandu at an altitude of 1550m. It is a popular and interesting small town to view the Himalayas.
After breakfast, visit Namo Buddha (1 – hour drive). Namo Buddha is situated on a hill and is known for the Buddhist monastery. Namo Buddha is an important site to visit in Nepal to learn about the story of Buddha and his various forms.
Return to the hotel for lunch and spend a relaxed afternoon enjoying in – house activities (on direct payment).
After a leisurely breakfast, check out of the resort and transfer back to Kathmandu.
The day is free to explore the buzzing Thamel area.
Later in the day, you will be assisted and transferred to Kathmandu International Airport to connect for your flight back home.
